What you'll get from attending my watercolour workshop series

This week I finally went live with my 'Development Watercolour Workshop' that I have been planning for some time with the lovely Louise at Hope & Elvis (the studio where I'm hosting it) on the Welbeck Estate in Workshop, Nottinghamshire.

I thought it would be a good idea to help answer some questions and share with you exactly what you'll get from attending my workshop.

As you know my practice involves painting watercolour florals and botanicals from still life or images. I create modern art but still using traditional watercolour methods, I will take you through the process from the very beginning. This 4 week course is designed for beginners and will give you a chance to become familiar with watercolour, drawing with pencil, mixing colours, finding your own style but most of all it will be relaxed. I will work with you so by the end of the series you'll be able to create your very own artwork.

The course will be structured as follows -

Week 1

  • Taking you though the equipment needed
  • Preparations & looking after tools
  • Colour & mixing
  • Watercolour techniques {wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry}
  • Putting brush to paper

Week 2

  • Re-cap on week 1
  • Finding your style of art
  • Begin to create your own artwork through painting botanicals & foliage
 Week 3
  • Working more on technique
  • Looking closely into the detail of the flowers and foliage
  • Begin to draw and paint florals

Week 4

  • Drawing out a composition
  • Working on hard and soft edges
  • Introducing you to negative space
  • Painting flowers and foliage using the skills you've learnt over the past 3 weeks
This 4 week course will allow you to begin painting in the comfort of your own home or wherever inspires you. This workshop is in depth, relaxed, therapeutic, inspiring and very much a modern day art class.

I have been a designer and artist for the past 10 years, I have my own unique style and this is what I want for you too. For you to develop a style of art you're proud of and to be able to create whenever you like.

Painting is a great way to relieve stress, get away from the usual 9-5 daily routine and is form of meditation. So if you're not that fussed about learning something new and creative, painting has so many other benefits!

This is for you if...

  • You're above the age of 16 years and are new to watercolour.
  • For those who haven't picked up a paint brush for a while.
  • If you love the idea of modern stylish art.
  • If you want to find your own style.
  • If you want to meet like-minded people and use this as a networking opportunity.
  • You want to paint from still life.
  • Love flowers and foliage.
  • Want to find that creative streak {that everybody has in them}.
  • Like the idea of a modern workshop run by an artist & designer who has experience of 10 years to share with you.
  • Want to learn some new tips and techniques.
  • Create your own artwork at home.
  • Design your own wedding stationery.
  • Always liked the idea of watercolour but have never tried it.
  • Need to find some zen.

Each week the workshop will take place on a Friday evening. I chose a Friday because I thought it would be a great way to start the weekend. Nibbles, prosecco and soft drinks will be provided each week too!

Here's some images of work I have created...
